Who makes Arabify

My name is Abdessamad Bettal. I'm a freelance web developer and programmer, and I specialise in building small, focused utility tools that do one job properly. Arabify is one of those tools — I designed, built and maintain it myself, and I write everything on the blog.

I care a great deal about performance and about interfaces that get out of your way. That shaped the whole project: Arabify has no sign-up wall, no upload step, no paid tier gating the good fonts, and no waiting on a server to render your image. You type, it draws, you download.

Why I built it

The Arabic script is one of the most expressive writing systems in the world, but for most people, using it beautifully has meant one of two things: years of training with a reed pen, or expensive design software with a steep learning curve and poor Arabic support. Neither is a realistic option for someone who just wants a decent Eid Mubarak card, a wordmark for a small café, or their name set properly for a profile picture.

Most of the free tools that fill that gap are bad in a specific way: they render Arabic as disconnected letters, they drop or misplace harakat, they watermark the output, or they upload whatever you type to a server you know nothing about. I wanted a tool that treated Arabic typography as a first-class problem rather than an afterthought, and that ran entirely on the user's own machine.

What you can create

Arabify is built around three connected studios:

• Text & Image — type Arabic with full harakat (diacritics), style it, and export a high-resolution PNG or JPG for social posts, invitations, signatures and Islamic art. Open the text studio →

The calligraphy styles

Arabify ships with 13 carefully chosen hands spanning the major families of Arabic calligraphy:

• Kufic — the oldest calligraphic form, angular and architectural, ideal for logos and bold statements.
• Naskh— the clear, rounded hand used for everyday reading and the printing of the Qur'an.
• Diwani — the ornate, flowing Ottoman chancery style, full of curves and movement.
• Nastaliq— the elegant "hanging" script beloved across Persian, Urdu and South Asian traditions.
• Modern — clean contemporary typefaces for branding, UI and a minimal look.

Every one of them is an open-source Arabic typeface, chosen because it renders connected letterforms and diacritics correctly rather than because it looked good in a specimen image. Our guide to the fonts explains what each is genuinely good and bad at.

How it works

Everything in Arabify renders on an HTML5 canvas directly in your browser. What you see on screen is exactly what you download — your text is never uploaded to a server, and nothing is stored on my side. There is no account system because there is nothing to attach an account to.

That architecture is also why the tool is genuinely private. You can set an unreleased brand name, a private message or someone's full name in the studio and none of it leaves your device. The privacy policycovers exactly what is and isn't collected.

Free to use

Arabify is free and supported by unobtrusive advertising. That's the whole business model — there is no premium tier, no export credit, and no plan to add one.
